About Me

My photo
My name is Frances Rose Agnes Napper aka SmileyRose. I am a friendly and fun loving individual. I like meeting new/old friends. Although I love being with friends, I also enjoy my own space from time to time. I have a number of hobbies. I enjoy taking photographs, going to the theatre, travel (visiting new and exciting places), reading, films and listening to music. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I particularly enjoy it when we all get together. I was a full-time mother for both of my daughters and I did not go back to work until they both reached primary school age. The UK has a lot to offer because there are so many picturesque places to visit. I particularly enjoy the British countryside. My home town was in Stamford, Lincolnshire although I am currently living in Peterborough. My Father was a serving member of the RAF. I'd consider myself well travelled from a very early age (6 months old). Divorced - for 10yrs. Currently single. I am interested in meeting nice folk only. :) Star sign - Leo the Lion. Birthday -July 29th. That's me in a nutshell. :)

Midnight Sun

Wow! Such a sad/tearful film #VerySad #TakeYourHankies

Midnight Sun is Based on the Japanese film, Midnight Sun. The film tells the story of Katie who has lead a very sheltered life due to a rare desease. Basically,  even the smallest amount of sunlight can lead to death.
The disease is called Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP).

The film starred Patrick Schwarzenegger, which I am assuming is Arnie's son (must tell my daughters, a nice looking guy),  Bella Thorne and Rob Rigg Le.  :)

I loved the film.....however,  It was a real tear jersker....It was a bit too close to my heart. 😢

Losing someone you care about a lot, is very hard to deal with, when you are only 17 years old. It took me a long time to get over the death of my boyfriend. When all of my friends were going out and enjoying their lives, I felt too distraught and down for a very long time.  It was thanks to some really dear friends back then, who encouraged me to go out with them one evening, that helped me on my path to accepting the loss.....and it was time for me to live a little again. I thank them for for being so understanding. Thank you. Xx

Remembering My Dad - It's Been One Year

Tomorrow will mark the first anniversary of my Father passing away. This year has been a particularly difficult year for me as I have been trying so hard to come to terms with his death. It was in the early hours of a foggy morning, at  about 3am, when we lost Dad last year. It was a very sad day for me. It seems like only yesterday when i last saw your smiling face Dad. I remember it well.

Dear God please love and protect the man I cherish and tell him that i will be thinking of him. Please tell him how much i miss him and how I miss our family time together. Tell him how loved he was and still is. Xxx

Where this past year has gone....i really don't know.

Forever in my heart. Love you and i miss you Dad.

Love always,  from SmileyRose X

RIP Sir Ken Dodd

RIP Sir Ken Dodd.  I have only just learned that Comedian Ken Dodd has sadly passed away. Ken Dodd was a very funny man. He and his Diddy Men have kept us all entertainall for a good number of years. #So sad

RIP Professor Stephen Hawking

I was very saddened to learn of the death of Proffessor Stephen Hawkins this morning.  He was a physicist who overcame a debilitating disease to publish wildly popular books probing the mysteries of the universe. He was just 76 years old. RIP Mr Hawking.

RIP Professor Stephen Hawkins

Driving In The Snow 😊

I was not entirely sure, so i had to look it up!

Driving in the snow can be a seriously tricky task, and millions across the UK are having to deal with it this week as wintry conditions plague the country.

The Met Office have issued yellow, amber and even some red weather warnings thanks to the snowstorm that has struck the country over the last couple of days.

When we reach the red warning, we can expect, ‘widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.’

Getting in your car in these conditions can be extremely dangerous, so it is important to drive as safely as possible.

What gear should you use in the snow?

Advice from the RAC says that you should try and move off in second gear and change up to a higher gear as soon as possible once the car is moving.

However, acceleration should be done gently, smoothly and using low revs.

Ideally, changing gear should be avoided as much as possible, so as you are approaching an uphill, leave as much room in front as possible so you can keep a steady speed and not have to touch the gear stick.

When should I use a low gear?

To avoid braking, use a lower gear when you are going downhill as using the brakes can cause you to lose grip.

Any gear changing should be done with the utmost care, trying to keep changes smooth and slow.

Remember, when driving in the snow you need to leave much more distance between you and the car in front – as much as 10 times more than you usually would.

Finding Your Feet :)

#FindingYourFeet   You know when you go to see a film and you think what film can possibly top this one? Well this film certainly did that. I am not going to be a spoiler here, however I simply loved the film. It was both funny and sad, filled with laugh out loud moments. It was warming on a cold winters day. How I love this film and I am so glad I went to see it.

By the way, Joanna Lumley looks stunning with grey hair!

On the way home, we did not realise how much it had snowed! My car was covered. I drove in 2nd gear for much of the way home. There was one scarey moment when my car started to slide....and there were other idiots on the road who were driving far too fast for the weather condition.

Going back to film though. ...It is the sort of film you could watch again, therefore I would like to buy the DVD. :)  Listen out for the wonderful songs in the film too. The whole  cast were blooming marvelous. Definitely a film not to be missed. :)
