About Me

My photo
My name is Frances Rose Agnes Napper aka SmileyRose. I am a friendly and fun loving individual. I like meeting new/old friends. Although I love being with friends, I also enjoy my own space from time to time. I have a number of hobbies. I enjoy taking photographs, going to the theatre, travel (visiting new and exciting places), reading, films and listening to music. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I particularly enjoy it when we all get together. I was a full-time mother for both of my daughters and I did not go back to work until they both reached primary school age. The UK has a lot to offer because there are so many picturesque places to visit. I particularly enjoy the British countryside. My home town was in Stamford, Lincolnshire although I am currently living in Peterborough. My Father was a serving member of the RAF. I'd consider myself well travelled from a very early age (6 months old). Divorced - for 10yrs. Currently single. I am interested in meeting nice folk only. :) Star sign - Leo the Lion. Birthday -July 29th. That's me in a nutshell. :)

RIP Sir Ken Dodd

RIP Sir Ken Dodd.  I have only just learned that Comedian Ken Dodd has sadly passed away. Ken Dodd was a very funny man. He and his Diddy Men have kept us all entertainall for a good number of years. #So sad

RIP Professor Stephen Hawking

I was very saddened to learn of the death of Proffessor Stephen Hawkins this morning.  He was a physicist who overcame a debilitating disease to publish wildly popular books probing the mysteries of the universe. He was just 76 years old. RIP Mr Hawking.

RIP Professor Stephen Hawkins

Driving In The Snow 😊

I was not entirely sure, so i had to look it up!

Driving in the snow can be a seriously tricky task, and millions across the UK are having to deal with it this week as wintry conditions plague the country.

The Met Office have issued yellow, amber and even some red weather warnings thanks to the snowstorm that has struck the country over the last couple of days.

When we reach the red warning, we can expect, ‘widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely.’

Getting in your car in these conditions can be extremely dangerous, so it is important to drive as safely as possible.

What gear should you use in the snow?

Advice from the RAC says that you should try and move off in second gear and change up to a higher gear as soon as possible once the car is moving.

However, acceleration should be done gently, smoothly and using low revs.

Ideally, changing gear should be avoided as much as possible, so as you are approaching an uphill, leave as much room in front as possible so you can keep a steady speed and not have to touch the gear stick.

When should I use a low gear?

To avoid braking, use a lower gear when you are going downhill as using the brakes can cause you to lose grip.

Any gear changing should be done with the utmost care, trying to keep changes smooth and slow.

Remember, when driving in the snow you need to leave much more distance between you and the car in front – as much as 10 times more than you usually would.

Finding Your Feet :)

#FindingYourFeet   You know when you go to see a film and you think what film can possibly top this one? Well this film certainly did that. I am not going to be a spoiler here, however I simply loved the film. It was both funny and sad, filled with laugh out loud moments. It was warming on a cold winters day. How I love this film and I am so glad I went to see it.

By the way, Joanna Lumley looks stunning with grey hair!

On the way home, we did not realise how much it had snowed! My car was covered. I drove in 2nd gear for much of the way home. There was one scarey moment when my car started to slide....and there were other idiots on the road who were driving far too fast for the weather condition.

Going back to film though. ...It is the sort of film you could watch again, therefore I would like to buy the DVD. :)  Listen out for the wonderful songs in the film too. The whole  cast were blooming marvelous. Definitely a film not to be missed. :)

"The Greatest Showman"

I went to watch this film this evening....it was an original musical inspired by the life of P.T. Barnum, starring Hugh Jackman. Barnum was a visionary who rose from nothing to create the “Greatest Show on Earth," a typical rags to riches film.

The soundtrack for this film was absolutely amazing and it is on my "things to get list."  Hugh Jackson has an amazing singing voice.

If you have not seen the film, this is definitely one to look out for. I always wanted to go and see the stage musical Barnham, which starred the fab actor Michael Crawford, however the show finished running by the time I got around to seeing it.. :(

I simply loved the film!

No! I Do Not Want To Convert!!!!

Someone recently asked what my religion is and would I consider converting!!!!! Of course not! I am a Christian, I was born a Christian, to parents who were also born into the religion and who were Christians. I am proud of my religion, therefore why on earth would I want to convert to anything else!

I am happy with me and who I am!!!

LOL TRUE....But Why Is It so difficult to understand 😁

Lol it always throws people when i talk....as i do not have an accent.....i speak pure English, English and English. The reason being is because BOTH of my parents only spoke the English language also....and so do the rest of my family for that matter.  Neither could speak another language......so why is it so difficult to understand that? 😂😂

It Is OK To Be Fussy And To Have Standards 😀

Someone recently asked me why I was fussy about the types of guys I like to be in  relationship with. I laughed out load and I mentioned to the person in question  that I was very particular because there are an awful lot of people out there who are as #thickastwoshortplplanks who cannot string a few words together to make up sentence!  I don't mean those who make the odd spelling mistake, I mean those who really cannot spell at all! If they are suffering from dyslexia, then that too is a different matter.

I tend to love people who have the ability to be able to write, particularly those who are very creative when they write.  These people are my favourite kind of people. :)  The Internet is great for meeting folk who love to write.

I think you can get to know a lot about a person by the way in which they write. Having said that, you do need to meet someone to make certain their personality is equally as good.

I would describe the way in which I write, to be in a very down to earth manner. I would not want to be with someone whose style was anything less. The Internet does tend to have a lot of people whose writing is atrocious though. They do not do a lot for me, no matter how good looking they are.  😀
