Ever since the age of almost 16yrs old (a school leaver) I have never shirked work. I have worked hard for a living for much of my life and there are times when I’ve woken up in the morning and I have felt like just lying down and not wanting to get out of bed sometimes because I have felt so tired, however I have still forced myself to go and do a full days work because I have a sense of pride in myself and I did not want to allow myself to get onto a system which allowed me to sit back and feel I was claiming something for nothing so to speak.
To date I have never claimed anything for being unemployed, however as I mentioned earlier there are cases when folk genuinely can't go out to work. If there ever came a time when even I should need to claim anything then at least I know I have put a lot of taxes into the system already therefore I should not feel guilty for claiming and being in-between jobs.
There are a number of folk who are work shy out there and they have no sense of pride in themselves. I have heard remarks such as it not being an option getting back into work because they are much better off claiming for not being in work! I have seen some folk living almost the same lifestyle as me and they're not working.
I was a Mother who took some time away from work to care for my children when they were both young....however when they were both old enough I enrolled at a local College in order for me to update all of my previous qualification, plus a few more before I considered going back to the work force again. It wasn't an easy task seeking work again however I kept on trying for what ever available position came up and then I struck lucky.
I think folk should be able to prove they are seeking work by showing the job centre just how many of the vacant jobs they have applied for. Of course if they are not qualified to do any of the jobs (they have no qualifications) then they should be eligible to do whatever job needs doing. You can't do a brain surgeons job if you're not qualified to do it! I admire those folk who try their hardest to make a living for themselves without them having to earn a wage in an underhanded/illegal manner.
I don't have a problem with all of those genuine folk out there who literally cannot go to work. I do have a problem with those folk who cannot prove they have ever put anything into the system to gain something out of it.
There are a lot of University/College/Sixth form students who are genuinely seeking work too but who cannot find the work because they lack experience. I believe in getting out there and finding work, any work to beggin with and for them to try their hand at just going out to work in a work place before they seek work in the top positions they would ideally like one day. Just getting a bit of work experience behind them is something to admire anyone for.
I feel sorry for all of those much older folk who are sometimes put on the scrap heap because some folk consider them too old in the work force and they are only looking for much younger employees only.
I really feel that a good place of employment would always employ a good mixture of the different types of folk they have working for them....that's provided they are qualified to do the job if they are mature folk....if they are school leavers etc then a willingness to learn the job can always help if they are suitably qualified.
For all of those folk looking for work out there, I wish them all the best of luck in their quest. It's not always easy however it is all about trying, wanting and the willingness to work which ultimately could help land themselves into a good job. Good luck.
