The Stroke Association

Causes I mostly support are: http://www.stroke.org.uk/

My father suffered a serious stroke a few years ago, we almost lost him.  He has since recovered but only to suffer another stroke a few years later.  Not that any of you realized it but it was when I first decided to come off Facebook and Twitter. During this time it was very upsetting for me.  My Father has since made a very good recovery and he seems to be doing very well.

I'd like to mention all of the Peterborough hospital staff who attended my father during both of his hospital stays, they were all marvellous. A big thank you to all of them. :)

The Corrs :)

I simply love the songs by The Corrs and "Angel" is indeed one of my favourites because it reminds me of both of my daughters. :)  I love the Irish...particularly as both of my daughters are indeed part Irish. ;)

Below is a picture of my daughter Catherine (Kitty)...The picture was taken back in 2009 during a holiday we had with friends in Menorca. It was the first time Catherine had ever flown abroad and It was a pleasure to see the excitement on her face for the very first time. As a Mum I was more interested in looking at her rather than looking outside at the picturesque scenery as we were about to land.  The look on her face was something I'll never forget. She has of course flown abroad on many occasions since our holiday together. :)

Ps  Since me first liking this song...one of nieces was born and is appropriately called 'Angel'... so I have another good reason to like the song.:)

Our time in Menorca was beautiful and the summer sunshine was lovely :

"People are People" :)

Sometimes People Come Into Your Life

Sometimes people come into your life and you know
right away that they were meant to be there, to serve
some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or to help
you figure out who you are or who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be - a roommate, a
neighbour, a professor, a friend, a lover, or even a
complete stranger - but when you lock eyes with them,
you know at that very moment they will affect your
life in some profound way.

Sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible,
painful, and unfair at first, but in reflection you
find that without overcoming those obstacles you would
have never realized your potential, strength,
willpower, or heart.

Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness,
and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of
your soul. Without these small tests, whatever they
may be, life would be like a smoothly paved straight
flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and
comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life, and the
success and downfalls you experience, help to create
who you are and who you become. Even the bad
experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are
sometimes the most important ones.

If someone loves you, give love back to them in
whatever way you can, not only because they love you,
but because in a way, they are teaching you to love
and how to open your heart and eyes to things.

If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your
heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn
about trust and the importance of being cautious to
whom you open your heart.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take
from those moments everything that you possibly can
for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk
to people that you have never talked to before, and
listen to what they have to say.

Let yourself fall in love, break free, and set your
sights high. Hold your head up because you have every
right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and
believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in
yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in
you.

You can make anything you wish of your life. Create
your own life and then go out and live it with
absolutely no regrets.

And if you love someone tell them, for you never know
what tomorrow may have in store.

Learn a lesson in life each day that you live! Today
is the tomorrow you were worried about yesterday. Was
it worth it?

'THE HUNGER GAMES'

Today I met a good friend. We decided to walk all the way around Ferry Meadows together just to blow out some of the cobwebs. It left me feeling a little puffed to say the least. It was a lovely afternoon. :)

We stopped off at the cafe for a quick cup of tea and to catch up on some news together. Whilst we were inside drinking our tea the heavens opened. It was a really heavy shower, however we were so lucky as it seemed to stop by the time we were back outside again. As we left the cafe there was a beautiful site ahead of us. There was this lovely rainbow which seemed to appear over the lake. It looked stunning. :)

LOL when I arrived back at the carpark there was an incredibly large puddle surrounding my car. Hehe it looked as if I was about to get into a boat rather than a car. I had to take baby steps and I was afraid to put my foot down hard in case i dribbled water into my shoes. I feel totally refreshed and all of the fresh air has done me a world of good. :)

Later this evening I went to the cinema to see 'The Hunger Games'.  What a brilliant Sci-Fi film this was. The film is directed by Gary Ross and it is based on a novel of the same title by Suzanne Collins.   Actress Jennifer Lawrence is absolutely fabulous. She plays the character Katniss Everdeen.  Katniss Everdeen volunteers in her younger sister's place to enter the games. She is forced to play against folk who have prepared for the games all of their lives. The games are a televised annual event whereby a boy and a girl are selected as 'Tributes' from each of the 12 districts. It's a punishment for a past rebellion against the government. Katniss's aim is to return home to District 12 as a winner. Does she win the games alone or does she win along side her partner?

The film reminded me of one of my fun day outings to the 'Spy Games' last year. Heck! I even had to shoot a bow and arrow. ;)

The only thing which wasn't clear to me...when they returned to Panem, who does Katniss end up in a relationship with?  Will it be her Tribute partner or her long suffering and caring boyfriend who was waiting patiently for her return home?  To be or not to be, that is the question? :) Look out for the 'Romeo and Juliet' Shakespearean scene. :)

I won't spoil the film entirely. It is definitely one to go and watch. I loved the film. :)  I'm famished now. ;)

'The Pirates An Adventure With Scientists'

Oh what a fab evening I had the other day. I've went to watch 'The Pirates An Adventure With Scientists'  during the evening. I must say the film made me chuckle and I loved it. :)
Catherine Napper (my daughter)... you were quite right! I thought the film was called Pirates The Misfits for some reason. I must be seeing things as I honestly thought that was the title of the film.  It seems like I was wrong. :) I'm not usually wrong though...I can't figure out how I managed to get it wrong this time.;) Oh well. :)
The film was excellent and for those who have not watched it yet I'm not going to be a spoiler here.
There was adventure, humour and a little romance.  Hugh Grant and David Tennant both in the same film....wow! :)  The film had a little romance...well you could call it a romance because the Captain Pirate has this thing about an extinct bird. She's a bit of Dodo. A bit like me I guess. :)  I won't spoil the film entirely but they seemed inseperable. You would need to go and watch the film to really appreciate it....it's a goody.
I like the part when the chain of parates all join hands in order to save the Captain Pirate and his DoDo bird from getting mangled in a huge fan. :)
One of my friends rated the film 8/10. I  would give the film a firm 9/10. :)
I love the soundtrack to the film...love that song "London Calling" by The Clash. :)

Burghley House, Stamford

I have had a wonderful day at Burghley House, Stamford today. I took some more photographs of the magnificent house. I also went around the Burghley Fine Foods Market and I picked up some delicious homemade Orange and Coriander Marmalade. The label says: Saints & Sinners - Preserving with a Passion. :)

I later had a little drive around the beautiful countryside whilst listening to my classical music CD. It was fabulous. :)

The Grand National 2012

It's one of my favourite times of the year. Today was the Grand National race. I was watching with a glass of wine. It's my usual thing to have a little flutter. I was sitting on the edge of my seat and shouting "Come on horsey win" ;)

There was a little drama before the race began. They were all set, the race began...but then it was halted due to a false start. :)

I chose "On His Own" to win...Ruby Walsh was to ride him. The horse was chosen because my birthstone is indeed a Ruby. However right at the last minute Ruby pulled out of the race due to an earlier fall and injury.  I wish him a speedy recovery.  In his place Paul Townend rode instead.  Unfortunately the horse fell at Becher's Brook. :(  I lost.

The winner of the Grand National 2012 was horse number 4, Neptune Collonges...ridden by Darryl Jacob. It was indeed one of the closest ever races in the history of the Grand National.  :)

What a good race and my congratulations to the winner. :)

Ps My thoughts are for those poor horses "Synchronised" and "According to Pete"...who lost their lives today. How very sad.  Is the sport safe? :(
