Rooting And A Tooting For England Today!

It was so sad England lost today. :(  Rooney scored a great penalty in the shootout.  Way to go! ;)  Oh well. There's always next time. :o)

The Internet :)

In all of the years I was married I never used Facebook/Twitter or the internet for that matter.

I only ever began using the internet when I went back to full time study as a mature student. We didn't pay for the internet prior to that as we both thought it was a complete waste of time.

I started using such sites only AFTER my marriage ended. As a single person I see no harm in using such sites. As a married person I don't think I'd even want to spend too much time here as I'd be quite happy spending the time with my partner...as much time as we possibly could together. ;o)

SmileyRose x

I Had The Time Of My Life :)

I always used to say that when I marry that I would get married for the right reasons.....for love only. :)
When I met John I was in my mid 20's. We spent 3 yrs together courting before we finally walked down the aisle together. I married in white because it was the first marriage for both of us. It was about two years later when we both decided to start a family together. Times I shall always cherish. :)

Unfortunatley our marriage did not survive and we divorced 6 years ago.

We have always remained civil to each other and our children have always been our first priority. Even when we were seperated we still enjoyed one or two family outings together until we finally parted and we went our own seperate ways. Neither of us fell straight back into another relationship after our marriage was over.

Our children were older when the marriage finally ended. I do not dislike my ex husband in any way as he was always there for me. He was the love of my life for many years. He gave me the opportunity to spend as much time with the children as possible. I was their full-time Mother.

Being a full-time mother did not mean i sat around watching day time tv all day. Quite the contrary. I mostly did volunteer work at the pre-school in the village we lived at and I gradually worked part time hours as the girls became older.

My ex husband was the main provider for the family and I cherished every single moment I had with the children. I thank my ex husband for giving me that opportunity. :)

Even after divorce our children were not in a tug of war situation. They have always been very stable well adjusted children. They've had family members and close friends around them all of the time because they are completly loved by many. They've been in contact with both of us on a regular basis since the divorce, just the same as it was when we were married.

These days the children are both school leavers and they spend their time either studying or with their friends. I would say that both of them make a joint effort to spend time with either myself or my ex husband whenever possible.

I have friends whose children marry and they go to live in America/Australia etc. I am blessed that presently they both seem rather happy not being too far away from home. We still get
to have our special hugs together. :)

I feel extremely proud of both of my children because they have both made their father and I extremely proud of them...keep up the good work. ;)

Hmmm if I ever remarried I don't think I would want to marry wearing white again. I'd consider cream or some other colour...but not wearing white. ;)  I think I'd go off to somewhere like Gretna Green and just not tell anyone that I was getting married. LOL I'd surprise eveyone and then I'd probably have a church blessing/ceremony at a later date. :)

I Came Out Smiling :)

So funny! I met with friend this evening and we decided to go for a nice long walk. Along our pathway we both came across one huge puddle......and we were both left in a dilemma wondering how to cross it.

Hehe my bright idea was to clamber up a small but steep embankment in order to avoid the puddle. Heck! I almost slid down it. It was so wet and muddy. I came so close to landing in the puddle that I was so set on avoiding in the first place....so close!  Phew! :)

Ewww! Oh well...I faced another challenge today and I came out smiling. :o)

Mother Tongue: The English Language

I learnt how to speak English when I was a small child. :)  My first ever words were "Mummy" and "Daddy" :)

I went to an English only primary school at the age of 5yrs old. I could read and write a little before I attended school because my Mother helped me a little, just as I helped my own two daughters to read and write before they both began school.  Thinks every child should be able to write their full name at least before they start school.  :)

My first ever book was Janet and John. I remember reading aloud from the book to my parents and to the teachers at school. My first ever teacher was named Mrs Cuthbertson. She was a lovely lady. She chose me to play the Angel Gabriel in a school nativity play.  :)

Someone once asked me "What age did I learn how to speak English?"  They presumed I learned the language as a foreign student. English is my Mother tongue *TUTS*  :o)

Orange

Sometimes it just takes one person to make you feel better if you've had a bad day.  ;)

Today I telephoned Orange re a query and the person on the other end of the telephone was most helpful. He actually went out of his way to explain a tricky problem I had with an internet issue. I thanked him sincerely for this. :o)

"Do You Think I'm Sexy"

I have drawn to the conclusion that It doesn't matter how pretty a woman looks.....men tend to go for three types of women:

1. Pretty
2. Sexy
or 3. Brassy

LOL I'm all three. ;)

OMG! My secret's out. :o)

Ok I lied a little. I'm not really all that brassy....but two out of three ain't bad. ;o)

I'm An Independant Lady!

Somone recently asked me if I was still dependant on my ex husband.  What???   Of course not!!!! :)

I'm very independant and I don't rely upon anyone else but myself. My ex-husband does not support me in any way and I make my own honest living without anyone elses support.

I'm not particularly wealthy and I have to work hard for a living to enable me to afford to run a home and car etc.. :)

I sometimes wonder why some folk try to compete with me when they have husbands to support them still. We're not all as lucky and everything I do is soley on my own. I have worked hard for it and it's helped that I went back to study again before going back to work after being a full-time Mother for a few years.

Of course it hasn't been easy for me and there are times when things were a little tough....but I'm a determined person and I was determined to not have to rely upon anyone else, but myself. :)

Some of the folk I speak off are still living in their marital homes and they still rely upon their ex spouses to help support them without them making an effort to do something for themselves. Some have even moved on to date/live with their new partners before giving themselves sufficient time to even try to make it on their own.

I always vowed that I would never have ANY baggage so to speak if I was ever to move on to the next partner. I have stuck by my word and I haven't any baggage...apart from a few suitcases.  ;)

I always said that if I ever fall back into another relationship again then it would be for the right reasons and nothing else.  I wanted to make it on my own firstly and I've stuck by my word. :)

I have been on my own for the past 7yrs and I have not fallen straight back into another serious relationship because I think everyone needs time on their own after a long term relationship has failed.

Meeting new folk did me a world of good and who knows...one day I may decide to fall back into another relationship again but it will be for the right reasons when I do.....until then I'm happy just doing my own thing. :)

Armed Forces Day - Saturday 30th June :)

Don't forget it is Armed Forces Day on Saturday 30th June. :)

I like to remember Armed Forces Day particularly as I have previously had strong connections with a serving member of the Royal Air Force.:)  Yes you have guessed correctly, my Father was a serving member of the RAF.  He retired from the RAF after 22 years full service. :)

As the child of a serving member of the British armed forces I was known as a 'Scale E Brat'...other UK forces children will be able to associate with this, it was like our own special club. ;)

I mostly lived in RAF quarters with my parents when I was a child. As a child all of my friends were mainly other RAF children. We lived on enclosed and guarded premises and we tended to mix with other RAF personnel and their families only.  We played together most days. My Father's first ever postings were at Bedford and Salisbury, Wiltshire before we left to live abroad for a while. :)

I suppose I lead quite a sheltered life. All of my friends were all English/British folk only because those were the only folk I ever saw. Everyone I knew only spoke the English language apart from those who spoke a different language to me when we lived abroad during my Father's postings.

RAF families tended to move around a lot. We didn't live in one place for too long as youngsters, therefore I never really picked up an accent as such.

No I am not POSH, I just have a very well spoken English accent that's all. :)

After my Father retired from the Royal Air Force, his last tour was at RAF North Luffenham, Rutland (Education Department)...we all went to live in a small market town just outside of Rutland. Back then, Stamford became a very popular place for retired servicemen to settle down with their families.

Some folk who think they know me actually have no idea what-so-ever...and yes my Father is of course my REAL Dad. :)

"On My Own" by FRANCES from Les Miserables ;)

Today is a day especially for all Fathers. :)  Happy Fathers Day to you all. :)
I spent some time with my own Father yesterday evening. It was lovely to just sit and chat together over a cup of tea and a slice of cake. :)
I also had a beautiful day at Duxford with one of my daughters. I couldn't wait to tell my Dad what a fabulous day we had.  :)
I was trying to think of an appropriate song for my Dad ... So today I am "On My Own" :) I'm... a huge fan of the musical Les Miserables. I have been to see the musical at the Westend. I particularly like this song by Frances Ruffelle, a lady who shares the same first name as me. LOL not only does she share my name she even look a little like how I used to look when I was younger....even the curly permed hair is the same. ;)

Happy Father's Day Dad :o)

I popped over to Stamford to visit my Father this evening. Aww :)  I wanted to take him a Father's Day card and also to share a cuppa tea and a slice of cake together.

I chatted to my father about the lovely time both my daughter Catherine and I had at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford today. I can't wait to share the photographs with him. :)

I am wishing my Father a lovely day tomorrow and I will also be thinking about all of you lovely folk out there tomorrow who no longer have your Dads around anymore. :(

Much love and kisses to you all (((((hugs xxxxx)))).

Some Dads are very special. I try to visit my Father often. I am hoping he has a lovely day tomorrow. :)

Tea with Hugh Grant

Aww so cute. These two little girls remind me of my own two little girls when they were much younger. We would have tea  parties together sometimes. :)  It made me smile. :)

Ps I didn't mean Hugh reminded me of me....LOL he'd look funny wearing a skirt...and I'm not saying he's a female either.  Just that the tea party takes me back to when I was a full time mummy. :)

"A Million Love Songs"

Someone recently looked at this photograph of me and they were surprised to see that I could play the piano. LOL I can't. The only tunes I can play on the piano are "Doe A Deer" and "Home Sweet Home" :) It made me smile though. Loved the film 'Music and Lyrics' ...and yes it's me doing a Gary Barlow. Erm I'm singing "A Million Love Songs" ;)

Ewww What's The Point In B*tching About Each Other?

When I do not like someone then it is usually for a very good reason that I do not like a person...I just don't like folk for no apparent reason. :)

I would say that I am a friendly individual who makes friends quite easilly. I like to get on with most folk but sometimes there is a little jealousy/envy and I can't help the fact that folk do not like me for this. I am quite down to earth when I am with my friends and family and I like to get along with most folk whenever I can.

I'm quite a likeable person who is fairly laid back and I am very easy going. I don't force my opinons onto others but I will tell folk what I like or dislike. There is a difference. :)

If I don't particularly like someone then I will never b*tch about them behind their back. I prefer to let others make their own minds up about a person.

I think all of those who b*tch about someone else behind their back must have something to hide and they're quite often the instigators, therefore I am likely to be aware of them.

I am an adult and not a child. I know the person you are b*tching about is known to me therefore why are you b*tching about them to me? What would you like me to do....make up a story about someone just to feed your appetite? Ewwww :(

Moral of the story. If I don't like someone then I very often don't like them for a good reason but I don't need to b*tch about anyone, it's not my style. :)
