Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time :)

It is always good to cherish whatever moments you can get to spend with your parents/loved ones. This year I had a stress free Christmas. I had a lovely quiet Christmas. It was a typically traditional family Christmas time spent with my folk in Stamford. There were just the three of us, however it was lovely to spend time just reminiscing together, watching the Queens Christmas speech together, watching TV and to eat a traditional Christmas dinner with all of the trimmings.  I really loved my Christmas day this year. :)

I would like to thank my family members for inviting me over and I loved every minute of our time spent together. It was very special and I love you both. :)

As always, I missed having the girls with me on Christmas day, however we chatted together and they will be spending some of the Christmas week with me very soon. I very much look forward to it. :)

It was nice to pop out and see a friend on Christmas morning. We ate Croissants and drank coffee together before I had to dart off to Stamford. It's always good to see friends too at Christmas time. :)

Later on this week I'm looking forward to going to the Pantomime to watch 'Beauty and the Beast.' I can't wait! "He's behind you" ;)

I hope to celebrate the New Year in style. I am so looking forward to it.  :)

Although I have been at work during some of the Christmas period, it has still been lovely and I am enjoy the relaxing festive holidays in between. :)

I would like to thank all of those folk who I've spent time with over the past year.  It's been a hoot!!!! Thanks for the sweet and thoughtful presents. :)

I'd like to wish you all a very safe and Happy Christmas.....and a very Happy New Year too. Here's hoping 2014 brings us all a lot of joy, continued good health and some more treasured memories.  :)

Merry Christmas :)

Love

To all of my loved ones :) This sums up the way I feel when I spend time with those I love.  "We’re all traveling through time together, every day of our lives. All we can do is do our best to relish in this remarkable ride. Thinks Domnall Gleeson sounds remarkably like Hugh Grant. ;)

"Walking with Dinosaurs" in 3D

I went to the Showcase Cinema this evening to watch "Walking with Dinosaurs" in 3D.  LOL I suppose in comparison to my youngest daughter, I may seem like a dinosaur to her... and yes we've been on plenty of walks over the years. ;)

I loved the the film. It told the story of  a pachyrhinosaurus named Patchi. :)  Patchi falls in love with Juniper who the same species as he is, only a different herd. He manages to prove how worthy he is of becoming head of the herd. :)

I won't become complete spoiler, however I really loved the film even though it is a film probably aimed at the children.  It's definitely a film to go and watch this Christmas.  :)

"Frozen" - At Shepreth Wildlife Park :)

I have spent the most perfect day with my daughter Lauren. :)

We began our day by visiting Shepreth Wildlife Park.  What a fabulous place it was too. :)

There were a number of enclosures with almost every animal you can think off.  Lauren was most surprised when we visited the Wildlife Park today. I thought it would be a good idea to surprise her because she has recently been working and studying so hard. Our favourite animals of the day were the Tigers "Rooooooar" ;)

Afterwards we both decided to go to the Cineworld cinema to watch "Frozen."  It is a Disney film based on the classic film "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Anderson. The film tells the story of Princess of Arendelle. She has the ability to create ice and snow. On the night of her Coronation she becomes annoyed at her sister for wanting to marry a man she had only just met!  She turns the land of Arendelle into eternal winter. She flees when her magic is exposed to the guests and they accuse her of witchcraft. She builds herself a little ice Palace on a hilltop. Her sister is concerned for her safety therefore she tries to help her by venturing off to seek her.

During her travels she meets Kristoff and his reindeer. She meets up with an old snowman acquaintance named Olaf and they all set off to help seek her sister.  :)

When they eventually reach her sister she refuses to go back and end the winter. It leads them both to argue again. She strikes her in the heart with her powers and only 'The Act of True Love' can release her and stop her from freezing.

During a crucial moment of life and death she manages to save her sister's life by standing in the way of an arrow however she freezes and it seems far too late to save her.  Her sister grieves and it is realized that the "Act of True Love" is shown when her sister sacrificed her own life in order to save her sister.

I won't spoil the film any further.

It's a great film and you should go and watch it.  :)

Hmm wonders if my sister can thaw me. I'm looking for the act of "True Love" ;)

"Two Weeks Notice"

I have just watched the film "Two Weeks Notice" on the television.  Goodness knows how many times I have watched the film, however it is one of my favourite Romantic Comedy. :)

The 2002 film stars Hugh Grant  who plays an immature billionaire named George and Sandra Bullock plays who the part of a lawyer named Lucy.

Lucy tries to stop the demolition of a community centre,  however George promises to save it if she went to work with his company.

Lucy goes to work for George, however she finds that it's all too much hard work. He requires her to be at his beck and call until eventually she decides to resign from her job.

George isn't happy at her decision to leave the company so he tries to prevent her getting another job.

Eventually she resigns and gives George two weeks notice. She manages to find a good replacement and George is very happy.  He becomes flirtacious with his new colleague and Lucy finds herself becoming a little jealous because she ends up falling in love George.

She goes off to work for a Legal Aid company, however George seeks her only to surprise her with his new speech and how he has a change of heart and he decides to support her causes.

She's delighted and the film ends with him proposing by him telling her that when they marry they may have to share a helicopter with another family because he will be slightly poorer. ;)

There were a number of funny scenes in the film ie., rushing to a camper trailer to use the loo during a busy traffic queue. LOL I can associate with something similar in the past, both of my daughters thought it hilariously funny. :)

I love the film :)

My Christmas Wishes

As I sit down to write my Christmas cards this Christmas 2014, I would just like to take a short moment to think about all of our friends and family/loved ones who are no longer with us. It's a time to sit back and reflect on past years and to remember all of those special folk who brought so much joy to our lives. They may not be with us anymore but it's OK to take a moment in our busy lives to just think about them all.

I'm wishing each and all of my friends and family members a joyous Christmas and I am hoping they all have a good New Year/2014.

I am thinking about both of my daughters Catherine and Lauren who have both brought so much joy to my life. I don't know where all of the years have gone. They say time flies when you're having fun, however I don't want them to fly by too quickly and I want to cherish my moments with those I love for much longer. :)

My thoughts are with my Father this Christmas time. It has been a good year for my Father who has made a very good recovery since being very ill. I try to visit him at least once a week. It's always a pleasure to catch up with my close family members living in Stamford, both of them. :)

I'm thinking about my Mum and I'd like to thank my Mum for spending some valuable time with me this past year. It's been lovely. :)

I have not seen an awful lot of my brothers and sisters/their families this past year but it's always nice to hear what they are all getting up to.

To all of my friends whom I've socialized with/hugged in the past year....it's been a pleasure catching up with you all.

To Rosie my Cockatiel....Wishing you a happy tweet Christmas. ;)

To all of my social networking friends/those who I follow on Twitter,  to those I am connected to on Linkedin... to my favourite work colleagues and finally to my neighbours.... I'm wishing you all a very Happy Christmas. :)

To all of my other friends and family members whom I've not heard off in the past year but who have thought to send me a Christmas greeting card....I am hoping you all have a wonderful Christmas.

To all of the elderly folk I have known over the past years. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas too.

Wishing each and everyone of you a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year

Much Love

"Getaway"

A Slight Spoiler

I went to the Showcase Cinema this evening to watch the film "Getaway."  The film starred Ethan Hawkes, Selena Gomez and Jon Vought.  It was an action packed thriller with plenty of high speed car chases which result in a number of police cars being written off. Ethan Hawkes plays the part of an ex racing driver who tries to save the life of his wife.

The story: There's a kidnapping and then a race again time to free the hostage. There is the blowing up of a power station and a City left in complete darkness whilst the Kidnappers plot a major crime.  Ethan Hawkes is given a set of instructions by the kidnappers voice and he's told to follow the instructions precisely in order to free the hostage.

He's asked to steal a specially customised Mustang, his first instruction by the Voice.  The owner of the Mustang tries to steal her own car back after she receives a call telling her where her car is. She assumed the person to be a Policeman, only it was part of the plan concocted by the Kidnapper!  She is part of the plot, however she also assists Ethan Hawkes with his race against time to free the hostage, who is indeed his wife.

The story ends just when you think all is OK! ;)

I really enjoyed the film. One to watch. :)

Soundtrack from film: Jingle Bell Rock :)

RIP Nelson Mandela

South Africa, a country who will be in mourning for many months to come. RIP Nelson Mandela who died today aged 95 years. The former first black President of South Africa finally lost his battle against lung infection, a recurring illness. He guided the country from apartheid to democracy after tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality. He served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Goodness! They say time goes by quickly when you're having fun, however my weekends seem to go extremely quickly these days. :)

I had a really fun day today with my family members.  My sister and brother visited with their partners and my two nieces.  It was fun to spend some time catching up together as we all lead such busy lifestyles. We all live away, therefore it's not always easy to meet up together. It was great to see how much my nieces have grown since the last time I saw them. Steady on! They'll soon be taller than me! |;)

I later visited the Showcase cinema to watch the sequel to The Hunger Games.  The film was entitled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and I must say, what a fabulous film it was too. :)

The film starred the lovely actress Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. :)

"Let The Games Begin" ;)

A Little Spoiler

The plot so far: It's the second installment of the Hunger Games Trilogy. Katniss and Peeta have just completed winning the 74th Hunger Games however they have to pretend that their Victory was due to an act of love because she defied the capitol by breaking the rules. She is told that if she did not keep up the presence of being in love with Peeta, that her entire family would be killed.

Contestants for the 75th Hunger games were being chosen, however participants were being chosen from past victors.  Katniss is soon to realize that she will take part in the games, along side Peeta.

Saltwater lake, where the games are to take place, was arranged like a clock. Every hour an attack would take place. They are attacked by poisonous fog and mandrills. At 12 noon and at midnight lightening strikes and if that's not enough, they have their rivals to contend with too. Eventually Katniss destroys the force field and she destroys the arena, however she passes out only to wake up later in a spacecraft. She learns that her family home is destoyed (District 12) she is on her way to District 13. :)

The film is fabulous! I can't wait until the next installment.  :)

The Butler

I managed to get out for a bit of fresh air this evening. It was well needed, particularly as I have been cooped up for almost a week. I have been feeling unwell, so you can imagine how welcomed it was to get out for a while today. :)  I began the evening by giving my car 'Kooky' a good clean.  He's now sparkling again.  :)

I later visited the Showcase Cinema. I went to watch the film 'The Butler' which starred the brilliant actors Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey. The film also hosted a number of other well known actors which included Robin Williams, Alan Rickman, Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave, Elijah Kelley and David Oyelowo.

I found the film rather emotional in places, so yes you will need tissues.

A Spoiler - Close Your Eyes

The film tells the story of Cecil Gaines. The film is based on a true story inspired by Eugene Allen. He served eight presidents in a total of 34 years working as a butler for the White House. Cecil was raised on a cotton plantation. He witnessed his father being shot by a farm owner after he confronted the man for raping his wife (Cecil's Mother). Cecil becomes a house servant, however he eventually leaves behind his mother who is scarred for life after her attack. He is found breaking into a hotel pastry shop, but instead of being punished he becomes lucky when Maynard the head servant takes him under his wing and teaches him a few skills. Maynard later recommends him for a post at a top Washington hotel. Cecil marries and he becomes a family man. He is approached by The White House to work as a Butler. He accepts the position and he later becomes Head Butler for the White House. There is much family drama.  President Kennedy is troubled by events between blacks and whites. He delivers his speech re the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Martin Luther King is assassinated in the late 1960s, after civil rights activist. Son Louis tells his family that he and a few others had founded a chapter of the radical organization called the the Black Panthers.

There was a lot of family drama. Young son is sent to war but he is killed in action.

The film is excellent, so go and see it!!!

My Holiday Enroute to Bude in Cornwall :)

My journey down to Bude in Cornwall is one I shall never forget. It was a photography holiday, therefore I travelled alone. During my stay I managed to meet up with friends... and their friends too.  :)

Firstly, my car had a flat tyre on the motorway on my way to Cornwall. It was a little scary to say the least as it happened on a busy motorway, however I managed to stay calm and I didn't go into girly panic mode.  I called for the RAC. They sent a nice man to my rescue. My car was a little sluggish during the rest of the journey, however Corry, my little car, is becoming quite old despite him taking me all the way to my destination and back again. :)

En-route to Cornwall I decided to stop off at a small guest house in Gloucestershire. It was very pleasant. It was in the middle of nowhere and it was very quiet and peaceful.:)

My room had a lovely room with a view. It over looked the back garden. :)

I had a very comfortable night.  On the following day i was a little disappointed that the chef was on holiday, therefore I was unable to have breakfast at the guest house.  Instead I stopped off at a cafe service station for breakfast. :)  I later drove on to meet up with friends at a National Trust House at Hestercombe House, Nr Taunton.

I finally arrive at my destination in Bude, Cornwall. It was a long old journey but I'm glad I broke my journey up by staying in Gloucester on the way down and then in Chepstow, Wales on my way home. :)

The next few photographs were taken during my stay in Bude. :)

More photos to follow :)
